Collecting sports cards has always been something enjoyed by fans of all sports, and all fan levels. The collecting of cards is a pastime for many sports fans and is a great way to really show your love for players or your team. Card collecting can also be a profitable addiction for many sports fans, you can purchase cards with floor pieces, game worn jerseys, or autographs; meaning, if you ever sell them, you can be guaranteed to be earning some profits on them. Another great feature of collecting sports cards, is that it is basically a game of chance. When you buy a pack for 99 cents, you can find worthless cards, or you can find the most rare card in the pack, so, the thrill of getting a great card, which is really valuable, for next to nothing, is something which many collectors look forward to when collecting cards.

Whether its a hobby and a way to show your admiration for your favorite players and teams, or whether you look to eventually sell the valueable cards for profits (when a player retires), card collecting is a great way to show team pride, and a great hobby for all fans and collectors.

Since Baseball and Football become chief diversions for the American public, sports cards became avenues of fantasy for young children. From the early days of trading and bicycle spokes to the most current higher value packs, sports cards have provided the necessary access to the sports world.

The golden era of sports card collecting occurred in the 1990′s when raising values and a new idea created a market that was definitely boom or bust. The new idea was the inclusion of game-used materials into individual cards. At first, the inclusion of signed pieces made the search for cards frantic. However, the inclusion of memorabilia turned card collecting into a virtual hunt for the “golden ticket”.

In the 1990′s and 2000′s, a collector could acquire memorabilia from current stars, hot prospects, former players, Hall of Famers and even politicians. Yes, politicians, like Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington made appearances in the sports card world. In turn, this influx of different kinds of memorabilia drove the values and searches for prized sports cards through the roof.

In the end, the game used/memorabilia frenzy changed the landscape of sports card collecting forever. Collectors now felt closer to their heroes than ever.

Sports memorabilia has always been something of value to any fan. Take, for instance, when Derek Jeter recently collected his 3,000th hit. The fan who caught the ball was criticized by thousands of people for not selling the ball, which was reportedly worth upwards of a quarter of a million dollars. Instead, he returned the ball to Jeter and received several rewards for doing so. The Yankees gave him tickets to their remaining games and a card company is even producing a card of the man who returned the ball. This, alone, proves how valuable memorabilia is, as the Yankees are spending thousands of dollars simply for their franchise player to keep the valuable ball.

Other people choose to sell memorabilia, some of which can be enough for a nice retirement. Anyone who has collectibles, from older eras, which is proven authentic, will see a nice return. These items can range from autographed cards to pieces of a uniform. It is amazing how much people are willing to pay, simply to remember a historical game or player. Sports memorabilia is something that can make people a ton of money; however, it can also be used as a keepsake, passed from generation to generation.

Do you love watching sports, especially the exclusive games you can get with packages from http://www.direct.tv/? Then you might also love collecting sports memorabilia. After all, what’s better than bringing home a piece of the game for yourself?

Sports memorabilia is available for those who love both sports and the sports personalities that make the games all the more interesting. This memorabilia comes in different forms and includes posters, t-shirts, jerseys, balls, and even shoes. These are readily available for those looking to start a collection or upgrade an existing one.

Each sport comes with its own sort of memorabilia. For baseball fans, the main option would be baseball cards, while for boxing lovers, posters are more popular. However, although all these items are valuable to their collectors, the monetary value of the memorabilia can be increased just by having a simple signature added onto them. This is what makes the difference between regular and one-of-a-kind memorabilia–the latter being the type that would fetch top dollars.

For those who are looking to collect truly exceptional memorabilia, different items used during the actual sporting event can often be acquired. These tend to have both sentimental and monetary value and should therefore be treated like the treasures they really are. One of the most popular examples for “game used” items was the T-shirt that Brazilian soccer star Pele wore during the 1970s World Cup. This piece of clothing sold for almost quarter of a million dollars during an auction.

Though it may appear just a scrap of metal to some, to race fans who appreciate the grace with which cars roar around the turns and accelerate through the straightaway, a piece of a NASCAR racecar is a piece of performance perfection. Measuring approximately the size of a baseball trading card, race-used sheet metal will add a unique flair to any card collection, not just a manufacturer’s reputation of your favorite athlete but an authentic slice of the sport itself. This particular piece originated on Mark Martin’s 6 Ford Fusion, from the 2006 AAA Nextel Cup Series (the Sprint Cup was renamed the Nextel Cup from 2004-2007). Fans will remember this as Mark Martin’s “Salute to Your” tour, his last season driving the 6 car and his last as a member of Roush Racing. At year’s end, Martin finished in 9th place in the Chase for the Nextel Cup.Over the course of his prolific career, Martin is widely regarded as the best driver to have never won a championship, the proverbial Dan Marino of NASCAR. Martin has finished second in the Sprint Cup Series standings an astounding 5 times, in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2009. He is also the winningest driver in the history of the NASCAR Nationwide series, with 48 wins.Martin began his career in the American Speed Association in 1977, racing alongside fellow NASCAR stars Dick Trickle and Bobby Allison. He would win the Rookie of the Year award his inaugural season. He would make his NASCAR debut in 1981, still a fan favorite after 30 years. In 1998, Martin was honored as one of “The 51 Greatest NASCAR Drivers of All Time.”

Buy it Now Price: 1,4999See Auction: HEREAs a net-minder it often seemed as if Patrick Roy was somehow two places at once. In the same spirit, this unique piece combines to eras of his stories career, both is early days in Montreal and his second prime in Colorado. With one “3″ hailing from his Canadien days and the second from his time with the Avalanche, the compose 33 jersey celebrates the legendary goalies achievement in both cities, bringing the Stanley Cup to Montreal in 1986 and 1993, then taking it to Denver in 1996 and 2001. Inducted into the Hockey hall of Fame in 2006, Roy is arguably the greatest goaltender to ever reside between the pipes, revolutionizing the way the position is played to this day with his butterfly style approach. Though among the league’s best throughout the regular season, Roy upped the ante come playoff time, the only hockey player at any position to win the Conn Smythe Trophy 3 times, given to the most valuable player over the course of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.Roy played 11 seasons in Montreal before being traded to Colorado in what is widely considered one of the worst sports transactions of all time and a move the Canadiens would soon come to regret. Roy nearly matched his Montreal numbers in only 8 seasons with his new team, racking up 262 regular season wins, compared to 289 in Montreal, and 81 playoff wins, compared to 70 in Montreal. At the time of his retirement, Roy held the NHL record for most goaltender wins, though it would later be broken by Martin Brodeur. Roy still holds the record for most playoff wins with 151 and combined playoff/regular season wins with 702. Roy became only the 6th player in NHL history to have his jersey retired by two different franchises, as both Montreal and Colorado paid tribute to his 33. Aside from his talent on the ice, Roy was also known for his superstition, never skating on the blue line (rather jumping over it on his way to and from net), talking to the goal posts like old friends and avoiding reporters on game day like opposing pucks would avoid the back of the net. Let “St. Patrick,” as fans endearingly called him, bring a little luck and superstition to your home with this truly inimitable piece.

Buy It Now Price: 499.99See Auction: HERENicknamed “Clyde” for the off the court digs, reminiscent of Warren Beatty in the ’67 movie Bonnie and Clyde, Walt Frazier can now bring his unique sense of style to your home, with this full-size framed jersey personally autographed by the legend himself. Frazier helped to revolutionize the modern game of basketball turning defensive from an important fundamental to an art form. Picking the pocket of unsuspecting point guards almost at will, Frazier used his quick hands to amass 681 steals over the course of his NBA career. For his efforts, Frazier was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team 7 times, to go with his 7 All-Star appearances (in which he took home MVP honors in 1975) and 4 All-NBA First Team selections. Though celebrated for his defense, Frazier was equally lethal on the offensive end, averaging 18.1 PPG to go with 6.8 APG for his career. Perhaps the achievements which most cemented Clyde’s place in history were the NBA Championship trophies he brought to Gotham City, taking home the league hardware in both the 1970 and 1973 seasons. On this particular Knicks jersey, Frazier not only signed his name “Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier,” but also adorned the ’0′ with the inscription “70 73 Champs.”Frazier’s 10 jersey was retired by the New York Knicks on December 15, 1979, with Frazier holding the franchise records for most games, minutes, field goals made/attempted, free throws made/attempted and assists at the time. Though Center Patrick Ewing would break many of these marks, the assists total still stands. Not to mention, Ewing never delivered a title to the MSG faithful, an argument for Frazier and teammate Willis Reed as the greatest Knicks to ever play the game. Now you can retire Frazier’s jersey to your own personal collection, with this one of a kind ready-to-hang souvenir.

On September 11, 1985, Pete Rose passed Hall of Fame outfielder Ty Cobb for the top spot on baseball’s hit list, registering his 4,192nd base knock, still standing as an MLB Record. This ticket stub not only comes from the night of Rose’s crowning achievement but is autographed by the hit king himself. Rose would muster 4,256 hits total in his career, to go along with three World Series rights, three batting titles, one MVP award, two Gold Gloves, 17 All-Star appearances at 5 different positions and a Rookie of the Year trophy.Though his 23-year career was certainly a storied one, Rose will perhaps best be remembered for his off the field controversy, banned from the game just 3 years after retiring as a player. Rose was accused of gambling on baseball during his second stint with the Reds, while serving as both a player and manager of the team. The dark cloud hanging around one of the most skilled players to ever play the game is the only straw keeping him out of the Hall of Fame, still a subject of uproarious debate among baseball historians.Among his other more dubious distinctions, though sanctioned by baseball rules, no one has ever made more outs at the Major League level than Rose’s 10,328. He also is tops in league history in games played with 3,562 and at-bats with 14,053. While his gambling habits may be less than savory, no one played harder than Pete Rose did on the diamond, legging out every ball from deep fly to foul tip. Any way you slice it Rose is certainly an integral part of baseball lore and now you can have a token of his career’s most memorable evening.

It’s a big machine that’s Red & Black.” So goes the popular Bulldawg Nation rally cry. Never was this more true than in Herschel Walker’s time at the University of Georgia. Walker was literally a machine among college men, powering through and around would-be tacklers like few before him. Starting in his first game as a freshman Herschel immediately made his impact felt, absorbing All-American Tennessee Safety Bill Bates’ hit and trucking him to the ground before rumbling towards the pay dirt. Walker would go on run for 1,616 yards and 15 touchdowns his freshman year, even while sitting a full 11 quarters due to minor injuries and Coach Vince Dooley’s mercy. Georgia won the only football national championship in school history in 1980, riding the back of their workhorse RB, steamrolling Notre Dame defenders in the Sugar Bowl to the tune of 150 yards rushing, meanwhile the rest of the offense was held to -23. Were it 2010, Walker would have undoubtedly walked away with the Heisman trophy his freshman year, but 30 years ago it was less acceptable for a rook to win such an award. Two years later however, Herschel would get his Heisman, closing out a storied 3-year college career.Walker’s professional career is underappreciated in almost all sports circles, signing with the USFL instead of the NFL, it’s premiere player in a league that would include Reggie White, Jim Kelly, Chris Carter, Randall Cunningham and Steve Young among fellow future Pro Bowlers. In 1995, Walker surpassed Walter Payton’s all-time mark of 21,803 all purpose yards, including his 7,115 USFL yards (2,411 in the 1985 season alone), though little mention was ever made of the feat. No, Walker’s USFL time is irrelevant in NFL circles despite the mindboggling statistics Walker posted in the highly competitive league. After the USFL folded, Walker would make the NFL Pro Bowl, but has been excluded from the Hall of Fame largely due to his USFL stigma. Regardless, Walker is perhaps the greatest running back to ever walk the planet, now you can have this autographed replica helmet with Hall of Fame value, at just a Pro Bowl price.
